# Ruby Laser Treatment Experience: Before & After Results

This is a bit old, but…

About a month before writing this, a ruby laser unit came into the clinic on a demo basis.

(A demo unit is a machine brought in for a test period of one to two weeks before a purchase decision is made.)

So, what is a ruby laser?

It is a laser that emits a wavelength of 694 nm,

As you can see in the graph above, it has excellent melanin absorption at this wavelength.

For that reason, pigmentation that does not respond well to a 1064 nm wavelength often responds much better to the 694 nm ruby laser.

It was a laser I had been interested in for some time, and since a demo unit happened to arrive, I went ahead and treated the scattered pigmented spots on my face without hesitation.

The left photo shows before treatment / the center photo shows two days after treatment / the last photo shows one month after treatment.

The photos are a bit small, but to explain: I did not have many deep pigmented spots to begin with. The treatment was aimed mainly at lighter pigmentation that had not responded well to 1064 nm or MaxG, as well as residual pigmentation after mole removal and areas with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Immediately after the procedure, the skin became red, as seen in the center photo. After two to three days, scabs formed. The scabs fell off cleanly in exactly 7 to 10 days.

The rightmost photo was taken about one month after the ruby laser session. Comparing it with the pre-treatment photo on the far left, some faint pigmentation remains, but it has faded significantly. A good amount of pigmentation has cleared, and the residual spots left after mole removal have also become much less noticeable—so overall satisfaction was quite high.

That said, the ruby laser is an extremely expensive piece of equipment, and there are already many high-end machines for pigmentation treatment in use…

I won't be adding one to the clinic right away, but it was definitely a machine I found very tempting. 😄

I don't always get around to writing up every treatment I receive, but I have been consistently keeping up with injectable treatments (placenta injections, glutathione injections) without skipping.

February was an especially busy season so posting was sparse, but I plan to get back to regular updates from here on. ^^
