MaxG & Sylfirm Treatment Review – April 2017
A staff physician's personal review of MaxG laser and Sylfirm pulsed RF treatment for redness and pigmentation, covering results, scabbing, and device impressions.
It's already been two weeks since my Rejuran session, and I'm now heading into week three.
Perhaps because Botox was included at the same time, my jawline and overall facial contour feel firmer—people around me have even asked whether I've lost weight. 😄
I'm planning to go in for my third session soon (either this week or next).
This past Saturday, for the first time in quite a while (roughly two to three months), I had a MaxG treatment along with a self-administered Sylfirm session—the clinic currently has a demo unit in.
Since redness (rosacea-type flushing) is one of my main concerns, I ran the MaxG in redness mode with the energy set a little higher than usual.
Sylfirm—currently a very talked-about device for redness, operating on pulsed RF technology—is said to treat abnormal blood vessels through a somewhat indirect mechanism. The demo unit happened to be available right after my MaxG session, so I went ahead and did a full-face treatment with it as well.
When I was doing MaxG every two to three weeks, I didn't develop many scabs after the first session. But after taking a few months off, it seems pigmentation had built up in the meantime—scabs appeared in several spots after Saturday's treatment. Once they fall off, I expect the skin to look noticeably clearer again.
As for Sylfirm, I think it's far too early to judge its effectiveness after just one or two sessions.
I'll admit I'm still a bit in the "needle RF is needle RF" mindset about it.
I'd love to use it more, but unfortunately the demo unit is being picked up today. 😢
It's the wishful thinking of a staff physician who wants to try every laser and every device out there. 😄
Anyway—
MaxG remains my all-time favorite. I'd been a bit neglectful of it for a while, but after using it again last Saturday, I've fallen back in love.
In terms of results, I haven't found anything that matches it. The only downside is the cost of the machine itself. 😄
